Terms of Service
These Terms govern your use of Steer for iPhone, Steer for Mac, and Steer's relay service.
The Service
Steer is an action inbox for local Mac coding agents. Steer helps you review action cards from Steer-managed CLI sessions and send replies back to those sessions.
Steer is not a remote desktop app, remote shell, general terminal hosting service, or system administration tool. The iPhone app does not execute commands directly. Live delivery requires Steer for Mac to be signed in, online, and connected to the local session.
Eligibility And Accounts
You may use Steer only if you can form a binding agreement and are allowed to use the service under applicable law.
Steer uses Sign in with Apple for account access. You are responsible for maintaining control of your Apple Account and devices. Activity from your signed-in account is treated as your activity.
Your Responsibilities
You are responsible for:
- The coding agents, CLIs, repositories, projects, and files you connect to Steer.
- The replies and instructions you send through Steer.
- Reviewing action cards before sending instructions.
- Ensuring you have the right to process any data shown in terminal excerpts or synced cards.
- Keeping secrets, credentials, private keys, and confidential data out of synced sessions unless you accept the risk of transmitting that data to the relay.
Steer may deliver your reply into a local coding agent session. The downstream coding agent may modify files, run commands, or call third-party services depending on your local setup and the agent's own permissions. You are responsible for the results of instructions you send.
Prohibited Use
You may not use Steer to:
- Access, control, or interfere with systems you do not own or have permission to use.
- Send unlawful, harmful, abusive, infringing, or privacy-invasive instructions.
- Abuse, overload, scan, attack, or reverse engineer the relay service.
- Circumvent access controls or security measures.
- Use Steer as a general remote shell or terminal hosting service.
- Upload or sync data that you are not allowed to process or transmit.
Third-Party Services
Steer can be used with third-party coding tools and AI services. Those tools are not part of Steer and are governed by their own terms, privacy policies, pricing, and usage limits.
Steer is not responsible for third-party model output, tool behavior, account charges, outages, data retention, or policy enforcement by those providers.
Availability And Changes
Steer is an early-stage product. Features may change, fail, be unavailable, or be discontinued. The relay, WebSocket delivery, account system, and Mac-to-iPhone sync may be modified as the product evolves.
We may suspend or limit access if needed to protect users, operate the service, prevent abuse, or comply with law.
Data And Privacy
Steer's Privacy Policy explains what data is collected and how it is used. By using Steer, you agree that Steer may process data as described in the Privacy Policy.
Account Deletion
You may delete your Steer relay account through the app. Account deletion removes your relay user record and associated relay cards, instructions, and sessions from Steer's database, unless retention is required by law.
Deleting your account does not remove local files, local logs, or local databases from your Mac.
Intellectual Property
Steer and its software, design, branding, and service are owned by the Steer operator or its licensors. These Terms do not give you ownership of Steer.
You retain ownership of your code, projects, terminal output, replies, and other content you provide. You grant Steer the limited permission needed to transmit, store, display, and deliver that content to provide the service.
Disclaimers
Steer is provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent allowed by law, Steer disclaims warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and uninterrupted or error-free operation.
Coding agents can make mistakes. Terminal output and action cards may be incomplete, stale, or incorrect. You should review important changes before relying on them.
Limitation Of Liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, Steer will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, data, goodwill, business opportunities, or production use, arising from your use of Steer.
Termination
You may stop using Steer at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms, create risk for the service or other users, or if we discontinue the service.
Changes To These Terms
We may update these Terms as Steer changes. The effective date above will be updated when material changes are made.
